New Destination : BANYUWANGI - EAST JAVA

Banyuwangi is one of the largest cities in East Java which is located at the eastern end of the island of Java. If you often travel to Bali with ground transportation from Java, of course you know Banyuwangi, because Banyuwangi has ferry ports are heading to Bali. But most people do not know that actually Banyuwangi have places a very attractive tourist destination, either in the form of natural attractions, beaches and national parks. Here are some places that you should visit:

Mount Ijen

Mount Ijen, an active volcano which has an altitude of 2,443 meters and has erupted four times in 1796, 1817, 1913, 1936.

Ijen crater has acidic green water, with 2,368 meters high above sea level, with a depth of 200 meters and a vast lake crater of 5,466 hectares. Ijen Crater Lake, a lake multi-component reactor in which the process, both physics and chemistry. As between the release of magma gases, rock dissolution, precipitation, formation of new material, and dissolving back substances - substances that are formed. resulting in lake water is very acidic and contains dissolved material with a very high concentration.
In addition, other phenomena resulting crater course is sulfur. Sulfur is produced from gas sublimation - sulfur gases contained in sulfaltara acid temperature of about 200 degrees Celsius, with a capacity of 8 tons of sulfur per day. There is also a wonderful fenoma of Ijen crater that can beat the sunrise and sunset are Blue Fire. To see the blue flame coming out of the hot gas from the pipeline bursts sulfatara, tourists have to wait at night by using a tour guide and it means that tourists have to start climbing at dawn. A struggle indeed, but believe me look very pretty beauty blue fire struggle to pay your trip. The time used to watch the blue flame climbing in Ijen crater between 02.00 am to 03.00 pm from Paltuding.

Pantai Pulau Merah (Red Island Beach)

Red island beach is one of the leading destinations Banyuwangi, located in the village of Sumberagung Village, District Pesanggaran. Located about 60 km from the city center towards the south of Banyuwangi. If you use your car will spend time in almost 2.5 hours. If you use public transportation, you can take advantage of public transportation services from Banyuwangi terminal, and use a bus to Pesanggaran. Then you can use motorcycle taxi (ojek) to reach the coast of the Red Island.

Before Pantai Pulau Merah, the beach was named Ringin Pitu. There are two reasons why it's named as Pantai Pulau Merah. First, reddish color of the land and the second there was a red light from the island, so the people around the coast called it Pulau Merah. Interestingly we can walk to this island when the water receded about 100 meters.

To enter to this beach, visitors will be charged for entrance fee about IDR 3,000 per person, up to IDR 5,000 per person (weekend). It is a good time to enjoy Pantai Pulau Merah in May until December.

Pantai Plengkung (G-land)

Plengkung Beach or well known as the G-Land has become the primary traveler's destination, especially for those who have a hobby of surfing. This beach is touted as one of the best surfing destinations in the world.

Plengkung beach was dubbed as "The Seven Giant Waves of Wonder" by foreign surfers because it has 7 rolls waves up to 6 feet height.

G-Land become a dream world of international surfing and has the second best waves in the world after Hawaii. Best waves in Plengkung only in between April and August.

This beach is located in the National Park Alas Purwo, in District Tegallimo.

Expanse of white sandy beach in the region covered area of unspoiled forest and away from the noise of urban bustle, making it an ideal area for those who want to surf and really get away for a moment from the city civilization.

Taman Nasional Meru Betiri (National Park)

Meru Betiri National Park known lowland tropical forests in the southern part of the province of East Java with a variety of high biodiversity, including the wealth of flora with various types of plants useful as a drug.
Meru Betiri National Park has three distinct ecosystems, namely mangrove swamp forest and lowland rain forest. This national park is a habitat for rare plants, Rafflesia flower (Rafflesia zollingeriana), and various other plants such as mangrove (Rhizophora sp), api-api (Avicennia sp.), Hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus), nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum), rengas (Gluta renghas), bungur (Lagerstroemia speciosa), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), Bendo (Artocarpus elasticus), and several types of herbs. In addition, it has a potential of protected animals, including 29 species of mammals, and 180 species of birds.

Meru Betiri National Park was famous as the last habitat of tiger stripe Java (Panthera tigris sondaica) which was rare and protected. Until now, these animals can never be found again and is thought to have become extinct. Extinction of Java tiger stripe means extinction of three species of tigers from eight species in the world (Iranian Caspian tiger, Bali tiger and Java tiger in Indonesia). 
It has its own characteristics which is a habitat for penyu belimbing (starfruit turtles), penyu sisik (shell turtles), penyu hijau (green turtles), dan penyu ridel/lekang in Pantai Sukamade.
